ComEd is now a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation with 6,000 employees responsible for maintaining more than 78,000 miles of power lines that make up the electric transmission and distribution system in Northern Illinois. The company also provides customer operations for more than 3.7-million customers across the region.
